Zhou Tingting is a third-year graduate student of Central Conservatory of Music(CCOM). She currently holds the professional titles: member of the Asian Dulcimer Association, leading young performer of CCOM Jasmine Ensemble and a core young performer of the World Dulcimer Orchestra.
Learning Experience:
Born in Guangdong in 1995, she was enlightened by teacher Zhong Ming at the age of 4. In 2006, she was admitted to Shenzhen Arts School, studied under the guidance of Associate Professor Zhou Yingyun. During the school, she won several professional scholarships and titles such as "Merit Student" and "Outstanding Graduate".
In 2014, she was admitted to the CCOM as an undergraduate with the second highest score in the country (the first in the outside schools), and has studied under the guidance of Professor Liu Yuening until now. During the undergraduate period, she won the "National Scholarship", "National Encouragement Scholarship" , "Excellent Student Scholarship" and "Merit Students" title of the CCOM. After four years in conservatory, she has been awarded the qualification of grade 2018 Postgraduate recommendation without examination and the honorary title of "Outstanding Graduate" issued by Beijing Municipal Education Commission with excellent results.During her postgraduate study, she was awarded the first-class postgraduate scholarship of the Department of Traditional Music of the CCOM for three consecutive years.
As a young Chinese performer, she has visited the United States, Canada, Italy, Hungary, Czech, Romania, Austria, Poland, Iran, Japan, Singapore and other countries. She premiered many Yangqin pieces’ , such as Wet Rain(composed by Li Bochan), Silk Road·Jasmine (composed by Zhang Shiyue), Avalanche(composed by Joshua Chan), Rainbow in the Cloud, Go West (composed by Yu Yang), etc. She has also performed in many famous music academies, universities and music art centers at home and abroad.
In 2015, she participated in the recording of the third album Night Sleepless by the CCOM Jasmine Ensemble, and the world's first Chinese-English bilingual series of video textbook Easy Steps to Chinese Music -Demonstration of Yangqin Volume in 2017.
In 2016, she joined the "Cantonese Rhyme" group of young performers under the guidance of Professor Tian Zaili. In May 2017, she was appointed by the Ministry of Culture to participate in diplomatic performances celebrating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Croatia. In August, she was accepted by the Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban Appointed to participate in a group of Chinese instrumentalists organized by the CCOM, and went to Germany to participate in the 67th Bayreuth Youth Art Festival.
In January 2018, she participated in the "2018 Chinese Contemporary Music" premiere concert by the CCOM led by Dean Yu Feng at the Lincoln Center in the United States, which was a great success; in November of the same year, she participated in Beijing International Chamber Music Festival Closing Ceremony Concert "Silk Road·Jasmine and Dancing Phoenix", performed the Yangqin Concerto Dream of Everlasting Regret(composed by Chen Yunyun, conducted by Lin Tao) in the Concert Hall of CCOM.
Other Arts and Teaching Experience:
Zhou Tingting is also active in major music festivals and Beijing Modern Music Festival.As the chief performer of the Yangqin part of the CCOM National Orchestra, she participated in the 4th China National Music Festival , the 3rd Plucked Music Festival, the opening concert of the 3rd Huqin Art Festival, the Plucked String Orchestra of the CCOM, and the 2nd opening concert of the Belt and Road Music Education Alliance,and so on.
Sha has aslo participated in the recording of the yangqin part of the original music of the movie Our Shinning Days-Race the Sun; served as the editorial board member of A New Collection of Yangqin Ensemble, A Collection of New Works for Yangqin Award-winning, A Collection of New Works for Yangqin Composition; premiered the young composer Chen Yusheng Yangqin version of Suddenly.
In January 2020,she had the honor to learn Santoor (Indian dulcimer) with the world-famous Indian dulcimer master Pt. Bhajan Sopori, and perform the impromptu masterpiece Raga Kashmir on the same stage with him.
