Xie Yihan was born in a family of music. She started to learn piano at the age of 3, and learned erhu with her grandfather at the age of 5. At the age of 6, she became the youngest student ever accepted by Professor Song Fei. At the age of 9 she was admitted to the Primary School of Central Conservatory of Music. Currently Yihan is studying at the Central Conservatory of Music in the second year of a Master's degree, studying Erhu with Professor Xue Ke and Sun Huang; Banhu with Professor Hu Yu; Jinghu with Professor Wang Hewen, Professor Jiang Kemei, and Professor Yang Nailin.
