Contemporary music and Bach the origin of music

Description
The depth of music as it touches our lives is a magical moment. Many people feel that Bach showed us what perfection might be. We feel this when Oscar Bohorquez plays the Bach solo Violin Sonatas. The depth of the music is beyond description. All we can say is that Oscar studied at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, then in Vienna at the heart of the western musical civilisation. The depth of his performances is magically captured here, in the third Violin Sonata, which takes so much time to learn and understand, and sculpt the beauty of the sound. We as fans of music must give it time to be understood and penetrate our hearts. Then this beautiful playlist places some contemporary music alongside the solo violin, with the etherial music of Ryan Howard. Ryan studied at Yale, and shows us modern sounds. His composition Skeiron consists of five Regions, each defined by its own unique harmonic materials and instrumental combination (most marked in the contrast between C flute and bass flute, as well as between metal and wooden percussion). There are electronic elements also. We have more Bach in this playlist, and more contemporary music, to show that creativity flourishes on Music Passion. Listen and give the music time to penetrate your feelings, and show you the beauty of emotions we all carry within us.

      • Skeiron

        Skeiron Region I - Interlude II 1

        cwlTemp006 Ryan Howard

          Skeiron Region I - Interlude II 1

Skeiron consists of five Regions, each defined by its own unique harmonic materials and instrumental combination (most marked in the contrast between C flute and bass flute, as well as between metal and wooden percussion). The electronic Interludes consist of sustained sound continua created from manipulated vocal and air sounds; these, initially, are highly static episodes functioning as links between Regions, their microtonal tuning contrasting starkly with the instruments' equal-tempered harmonies. As the work progresses, the electronic and instrumental music increasingly interpenetrate one another, with microtonal intonation introduced into the flute's music in the work's final Region. The title is the name of the ancient Greek deity of the northwest (southeast-blowing) wind, at once a reference to the prevalence of air and wind sounds in the composition (in both flutes and electronics), as well as an allusion to the associations of atmosphere and spaciousness I feel that the work evokes.

The title refers to the family of seabirds comprising the subfamilies of gulls and terns. The movements and sounds of birds are strongly associated, in my mind, with the musical shapes and intertwining lines of this work.
